Who are we?
opgewekt.nu was founded in 2006 by Kees Daey Ouwens and Pauline Westendorp. Purpose of opgewekt.nu is to inform everyone in the Netherlands about the use and application of cleaner  energy. We inform citizens and SMEs on cleaner energy.

Kees Ouwens Daey had been active since the’50s for cleaner energy. Discussions of 35 years ago are still the same as in 2009.

We are a little impatient with opgewekt.nu and we find that the discussion is limited to specialists. And while clean energy is the first and oldest source of energy: a sailboat sailing on the wind, a mill uses the wind and a waterwheel set things in motion through water. Oil you do not have to pump from the ground but you can also plant seeds!

In short, our energy needs are easily met in a clean way.

Working with energy - that we return the discussion to the end-users. Anyone who lives, works and recreates uses energy. So are we, ordinary people, young and old.

We work open source: open source means that the source code, the “DNA” of an activity or idea or product is public. Anyone can take this information to develop ideas, a product improvement or further develop activities. Open source is a term that comes from the computer industry. opgewekt.nu follows this principle: we are an ‘empty’ foundation: no office, no furniture, no overhead. opgewekt.nu lives on the energy and enthusiasm that people show and distribute. Anyone can join. If it is about cleaner and sustainable energy !

We are positive (”opgewekt”) about the future of energy, if we start NOW (”nu”).
